Word(y) Wednesday
I am really sorry for my absence again! Mitch has had a wonderful way to occupy his days since he's been home (freelance writing for our city) but it has required that he has the computer all day, so I have gotten an awful lot done (just not much computer stuff!). But it's all good
.
So anyhow, I just wanted to reflect a bit on the fact that my baby boy will be TWO tomorrow! Really, how is this possible?? His grandparents, some of his aunts and uncles, and birthmom will all be coming to celebrate this weekend...all for one wiggly little worm! He was with me tonight at GEMS (the girls club at our church) and they sang happy birthday to him...he hid his face in my lap! I hope he's not too overwhelmed this weekend.
Thankfully, it should be pretty laid back. I just want him to have fun!
Anyhow, he is definitely becoming my little buddy. He calls out "Mommy? Mooommmy?" whenever he wants me to check out what he's doing...or snuggle a little. Too cute. And he has such a routine down...books right away in the morning, then scrounge through the fridge for something to eat, then "pray??" before any meal (or even when he sees one of us with our hands crossed), then throw left-over food to "Cha-ie", then "go pay? trucks?" for much of the morning, then "nack"-time which usually involves "papes" (grapes) and milk, then "nigh-nigh" for a couples of hours...which is definitely preceded with "pray??". Then when he's up, we go see "Peyt" and "Tee-tee" (Kiernan) at my work and play with many "choo-choo's" or "buses"...(this kid has his modes of transportation down!), fight a little over the choo-choo's (of course...he's almost 2!), then go home and see Daddy and "Cha-ie" again. Also many times throughout the days he talks about "Papa Truck" or "Papa Rockies"...I think his way of keeping his 2 grandpas apart. Is that not too cute?? He loves my dad's truck, and just knows his Papa on the other side (as well has his daddy) talk about the Rockies all the time. Funny little boy.
Looking back a bit....
One Day
One Year
And I'll have pictures of TWO to post soon!

Thankful Thursday
It's been a while...but is as important as ever to focus on being thankful!
Today, I am thankful...- ...For my clearance Old Navy rain coat that kept me nice and dry today while I was running errands. It was such a rainy day!
- ...That Mitch had a phone interview with Pay Pal today! Praying, praying.
- ...For LifeLight Music Festival, and for the fact that we heading out there tomorrow morning! AND, it looks like it should be beautiful weather!
- ...For my parents. A dear family friend from my childhood passed away yesterday (my parents' age), completely unexpected...and it just makes me be more thankful for the beautiful moments I have with my parents.
- ...For the humor that Lucas brings to our lives day after day. And for his upcoming birthday...so soon!
- ...That due to Mitch not working right now, we have had such fun and relaxing mornings together. Lucas will have an adjustment when his daddy does head back to work full-time!
- ...For good cups of coffee.
- ...That library cards are free...and provide so much entertainment!
- ...That we are only driving 3 hours tomorrow, as opposed to 8 hours that we had to drive on our last trip.
- ...That God helps me put things in perspective. There are so many hurting people surrounding us. What I cling to (brought to mind with the decrease in our income) tends to look very superficial when compared to leukemia, homelessness, miscarriages, unexpected death. I am just thankful for the blessings that God "lends" to us for a while to enjoy!

Cousins
We traveled to Denver (8 hour trip) last night and this morning to spend some time with Mitch's family. His grandma has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer, so we wanted to come spend some time with her while she's still doing fairly well. We also got to celebrate our nephew Adam's 12th birthday today, too, which added to the fun of the day!
Lucas was also thrilled to play with Bryson (age 5) and Shellyn (age 7). He pretty much mastered saying "Shellyn" by the end of the day!
And of course getting into all of Grandma and Grandpa's toys is great fun!
We'll be here until Tuesday, so we'll have plenty of chances to take more pictures. We have several people we want to meet up with, as well as spend good time with Mitch's grandma again tomorrow. Should be a good couple of days!
