  • Miscellaneous Monday

Did you all have a good weekend?...hopefully you spent some time honoring your mothers (either in person, thought or memory) or being honored yourself!

Here is Lucas working on making cards for his grandmas and his birth-mom (for birth-mom's day...May 9).  What fun to make a mess! This was a quick project, though, because the wind came up and we nearly had paint blowing every where! The first hand-prints he made were a bit on the blobby side, as you can see .

I decided last week to visit my parents for a long weekend, as I had Friday off, so I quite a bit of time with my mom.  Mitch was gone on a business trip, so Lucas & I had a fun time hanging out in Sioux Falls.  He was thrilled to see Grandma and Papa (he now says papa...we're still working on Grandma) .

Here are a few pictures from our days in Sioux Falls...most pictures involve eating and Lucas making a mess...hm!

Mm, whipped cream.  It makes a good hair gel!

This was our dinner to celebrate Mother's Day (a day early) and my brother Rick's birthday (3 days early).  Mom
and I had worked hard to clean out the porch so we could enjoy this dinner out there!

Ice cream is always best right out of the carton, right??

Lucas and I left early Sunday morning so we could make it back in time for our church service.  We got there right on time after a 3 hour drive!  Mitch also joined us at church after driving 4 hours that morning. He was a little late but made it for much of the service...good to see him after nearly 4 days! He'll have several more over-night stints for work in the coming months (he travels a lot to surrounding AAA offices in Nebraska during the summer months for safety events), so we're getting used to it.  But we could have used another day off today to spend together.  Yesterday afternoon/evening went way too quickly.  We came home after church to try to get Lucas to sleep for a while, but that never happened.  Mitch offered to get steaks to grill (I should have taken him up no that!), but since we hadn't planned anything in advance, I just suggested going out to eat.  Lucas fell asleep on the way to the restaurant (of course!) so we let him sleep in the car for a bit.  The restaurant we were going to go to was way too busy, so we chose Perkin's down the street.  Horrible service & bad attitudes on the servers' parts were not fun, so we did end up getting a free meal and free pie.  Just because they don't want to be there doesn't mean we need to get treated like crap!  But the food was good, and we did make the best of it

No matter how the day went, I'm just so grateful to be a mama...and spending time with my hubby and my little boy was the perfect way to spend the day!  Unfortunately, we didn't take any pics yesterday! We weren't thinking...oops!  Maybe we can have a re-take today .

My mom sent me home with a ton of old articles, etc, that I can pull lots of tips out of, so be looking for the start of that in Tuesday's Tips...tomorrow!
