  • He's here!!!!!

    I failed to write a quick blog before we left at 5:45 this morning....but
    Lucas John is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



    He is just the most amazing, perfect, precious little boy ever!!!  We got the call from the birthmom this morning at about 12:15.  I didn't hear the phone but woke to hear Mitch talking to someone, and I just knew!!  She was heading to the hospital then, we managed to sleep a little more, and then we were out the door early, early as well.  There have just been SO MANY God-things about today. From the ultra-caring nurse who showed us all the waiting areas to hearing the lullaby over the loud-speaker just after Lucas was born to having Jessica's (the birthmom's) friend and coach walk out of the room with Lucas all snuggled up so we could see him before he was taken to the nursery!!!  What a day, I tell you.

    Jessica was dilated to 7.  They had already broken her water and gave her an epidural, when they decided Lucas was stuck and she was not progressing as she needed to be.  So they ended up doing a c-section to get him out of there faster.  He was born at 10:32 a.m. and weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 20 inches long.  Jess is in pain for sure, but she seems to be holding up well.  I will tell many more stories later, but I wanted to make this announcement now!!  I have been given a wrist-band, so I'll get to have lots of snuggle-time with Lucas.  The charge nurse said we can even ask for a private room to feed him and rock him, etc.  I am so impressed with the staff...they are being so good to us!!

    Well, that's all for now.  I might try to take a quick snooze now and then I'm going to meet Mitch back at the hospital in about an hour and a half!  More later...
